My name is Anne Autsolief and I make handcrafted, artisan wire and chainmaille jewelry. Chainmaille is a type of metal fabric armor that was worn for several centuries. The term .Maille. comes from the French word for wire. Most sources claim it to be an invention of the Celts. It consists of hundreds or thousands of tiny interlocking circular rings. Each one is coiled, cut, opened, woven around others and closed by hand to create intricate patterns. I take the same concepts of medieval maille and apply them to modern jewelry pieces. My jewelry items include bracelets, pendants, rings, crosses and earrings made of sterling silver, copper, and artistic wire. Chains, metal mesh, and bright colors make this a refreshingly different form of jewelry design.
